2019-20 Rolf T. Hammer Hospitality Education Scholarship

Amount
Two (2) $3,000 Scholarships

Eligibility
Open to any New England student (any age) pursuing a career in the lodging or hospitality field. Applicants may be graduates of accredited high schools, high school students or post secondary students.
 
Use of Scholarship
This scholarship is provided for one time use only. No continued scholarship support for the student is stated or implied. Applications should be submitted by the student annually, if appropriate. The scholarship may be used for tuition and/or room & board. It will be issued jointly to the institution and the student.
 
Selection Criteria
a)         Scholastic record
b)         Employment record and extra-curricular activities
c)         Desire for a career in the hotel or hospitality industry
d)         Associated with a member of New England Inns and Resorts (Not  a requirement to apply for the scholarship)
 
Deadline for Submission
May 1, 2019
*All applicants will be notified by June 30, 2019 of the committee’s decision.

About Rolf
Rolf T. Hammer passed away on March 17, 2013. Rolf was a retired innkeeper, who owned and operated The Homestead Inn in New Milford, CT for 18 years. He was a past president of NEIRA and a Life Member. In 28 years of membership with NEIRA, Rolf never missed an Annual, Spring or Board of Directors meeting. The NEIRA Board of Directors is honoring his dedication to NEIRA and the hospitality industry with a scholarship.
